Ruisjuuri’s home bakery is located in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki, Finland. The bakery bakes products to order for private and company customers. Ruisjuuri products are handmade pastries made in accordance with the traditional Karelian baking skills of the family. Each product is unique, made with joy for you.
Ruisjuuri products are both crispy and delicious. Each product contains carefully selected ingredients. All Ruisjuuri’s products are lactose-free and free from additives.
Maintaining and cherishing Finnish traditions and customs is important for Ruisjuuri.
Ruisjuuri was born from the founder Katja Roivas' own Karelian roots, a long family history of traditional baking skills, and endless enthusiasm for working by hands. And love for rye bread!
Ruisjuuri offers customers handmade Karelian bakery products and training on Karelian traditional baking. We want to preserve the Karelian baking tradition and to highlight the hand-made traditional baking traditions.
The high quality, domestic materials and ecology of the products are the basis for Ruisjuuri's operations. All of our products are handmade from pure and carefully selected materials.

COURSES & EXPERIENCES
You can order a baking course for your home, your workplace, a party with friends, or, for a surprise, a stag party. We tailor the course to suit you.
The Ruisjuuri’s baking course can be arranged in the space provided by the customer. A baking table and a functioning oven should be available. We bring all the material that is needed for the course. No prior knowledge or skills in traditional baking are required.
Pie Course
Hi there, let's learn how to make Karelian pies!
Let's learn together how to make crust dough, how to make the fillings and how to crinkle the pies and finally, how to bake and anoint them.
After the course you will be able to bake traditional Karelian pies independently. You know where you can get the ingredients and you will get the Ruisjuuris instructions and recipes you are sure to succeed at home.
Course price 50 € / person including all materials. Children 25 €, children under school age with adult free of charge. At least 5 participants are required for the course. Duration 3 hours. No prior knowledge or skills in traditional baking are required.
